Furnicela Opy (Opy=virtual company) offers interior design and implementation. We base our furniture and interior design on the use of recycled materials. The use of recycled materials is our way to support companies: we aim to provide sustainable and practical solutions as well as improve well-being at work.

Our services are mainly for companies and entrepreneurs. We strive after maximizing our customer's productivity through the ergonomics, practicality and - first and foremost - comfortability of our design. Company specific solutions and unique products from recycled materials tell the customers of the company how stylish and professional the company is.

We want to be on the front line on our field and offer sustainable solutions, from which our customer can profit. Individual customer needs are first in line in all our work. We build the bundle of products with the customer. There really are no set standards - everything is new and customized.

Our Story

Our company was born out of interest and passion for interior design: we want to create decoration solutions and furniture in a completely new way. We strive after sustainable development, our customers' well-being as well as profitability. This is achieved by providing our customers with comfortable business premises, conference rooms and venues.

Pinja Somppi is a freshly graduated interior designer. She thinks that there is something missing from the field: a company that would produce ecological interior design in collaboration with the customer. So she decided to found a business that makes unique furniture out of wood and recycled materials - all hand-crafted by Finnish carpenters.

Pinja desired that the customer can affect the result of the work. She thought of combining a chat service and 3D-modeling, through which the customer can see the plans on the design and the changes to them in real time.

Pinja sought local carpenters, welders and upholsterers as her business partners. They provide the tables, chairs and other office furniture and textiles she has designed. Her friend, Ari Parsa, took an interest in her business idea and decided to become involved in the daily business activities. Running the daily business, both sales and acquisition, became his area of responsibility, which allowed more time for Pinja to work with interior design with the customers.

A group of first year business students from the University of Applied Sciences of Tampere heard of Pinja's plans and wanted to support her business financially. One of the investors, Seamus Svahn, was appointed CEO in the newly formed corporation.

So was born Furnicela Opy (Opy=virtual company).
